Scribante Round Three 2010
Simon Moss showed great pace and was on top of his game this past weekend. Competing in round 3 of the Wesbank Super Series. After entering the weekend tie on points with Wesleigh Orr, Simon clearly had the upper hand in Port Elizabeth on the Friday, setting blistering lap times and topping all the time sheets.

A word with the man himself after qualifying, Simon said : “The qualifying lap times were not as fast as expected, I had a little bit of under steer through the fast corners especially in hanger bend were we exit at approximately 205km/h so it gets hair raising! In turn 1 there was an oil spillage which made the track very slippery, I feel that I never capitalised and was too cautious on the damp and drying track.” Simon(38) managed to set a blistering lap time on the final lap as the track started to dry out, he was pole ahead of Caleb Williams(77) and third for both races was his main rival Wesleigh Orr(2).

Race 1
Simon (38) started from pole position, he was confident to pull a gap on the rest of the field in the opening laps and then nurture his tyres for the second heat, because of the abrasive track surface. After 2 laps Simon clearly started edging away from the rest of the field and by lap 7 he was clear with a margin of more than 3seconds. He maintained his pace until the end and claimed his 4th victory. Williams (77) was 2nd and Orr (2) came home in 3rd place.

Race 2
Race 2 saw Simon start from 2nd on the grid. Determined and aggressive as he is, he made a move around the outside of Williams (77) in turn one giving him the inside line into the 2nd ess, however Williams (77) did not take note and vierd to the left while Simon was committed to make his overtaking move, Simon had to swerve out the way to prevent collision and the inside curbing caught him unaware and put him out of the race. After rejoining at the back he set the fastest lap of the race however there just weren’t enough laps for him to gather a podium Finnish.

The next round is at Kaylami on the 5th of June. Sparks and fireworks are expected to fly between the Championship contenders...
