Round 4 Kyalami

After having shown great pace in PE topping all the time sheets , qualifying on pole position and taking victory in heat 1, Simon Moss was confident that he had the pace and stamina to take full honers in round  4 of the Wesbank Super Series held at Kyalami.

Simon was on top of the time sheets on Friday proving his pace and confidence in the car with old tyres. It was a cold Friday morning qualifying session and Simon took full advantage of the grip level setting a blistering time of 1.37.529, (0.701 s) ahead of nearest rival Wesleigh Orr. This was the fastest lap time ever to be set around Kyalami in a Formula Volkswagen to date. He managed to claim pole for heat 2 as well having set the fastest 2nd lap.

Race 1
In race one it was a straight forward race by the end of lap one Simon had already edged out a gap of approximately 2 second. He then continued his dominant form to lead from start to Finnish claiming the checked flag 6.426s ahead of 2nd place man.

Race 2
Simon started from pole position once again after setting the pace in qualifying, and showing his pace in race one it was clear that he had the upper hand on the weekend and was confident with the entire package. Simon made it clear from the start that he was determined to pull a gap on the rest of the field we then spoke to him and his outcome of the race was...
 He said: “From the start I made a deal with my dad to give me thumbs up from the pit wall once the gap was big enough, on lap 3 I saw him raise his hand and he gave me the thumbs up to nurture the car and bring it home safely. I thought to myself no, that’s not racing I want to challenge myself and see if I can do all 10 laps at full pace without making any errors.”
This is what he went on to do and stretched his lead to 11.4s, which is one of the biggest victories in FVW since the championship has been running.

Simon is now leading the Championship and has high hopes for Phakisa which is round 5.
